Water lilly pads in the Bangalore garden
A Silk Sari Store...where we bought some scarves....the sari's were beautiful...but we really didn't need any. We went with a friend of Daya's - a kind of a know-it-all lady. It was funny listening to her talk with the salespeople...she speaks in an anglicised way but certainly gets her point across. She had us convinced that the scarves she was getting were the best kind (best silk etc.)When I got to Delhi we went to the handloom house place, and what they offered was completely different. I am going to assume that silk is woven in different ways and everyone prefers their own kind. So now I have a sampling of both kinds - I hope my friends will appreciate whatever kind they get.
Shirley Matthews - the artist who rents the small rooms on the side of the Bangalore House, and uses them for her Studio. She is also a friend of Bubly's and took me out shopping and browsing. She keeps an eye on Aunty Lilla and the house - I enjoyed looking through her artwork.
